The Opportunity Cost of Oversleeping

Reality is going to bite you pretty soon and one of the harshest elements is facing the consequences of being late. How many times have you hit the snooze button confident in your ability to slide into 2nd period class without being noticed? The future doesn't look kindly on slackers and public school is the last place in which we're conscious of you enough to give you a second chance. Since no one will care about you in two months, you better get a new line of defense against missing the menu of opportunities ahead. If you click on the title above you'll see the latest tool in behavioral economics...The SnuzNLuz. Every time you hit the snooze button it automatically debits your checking account and sends cash to charities you would never support. Tree huggers send cash to the American Coal Industry, cattle ranchers donate to PETA....you get the picture.

  1. that idea's cool so ill be forced to wake up or some poor sheep's going to be killed for its wool or something. You see thats a productive invention, it will defeinently make people more responsible about waking up. Even though i still dont think it can compete with a shouting mom at 6:00 a.m in the morning.

  3. wow that's really funny. It's so random but I guess it's a good idea and it will definitely make people wake up in the morning....if they actually sign up for it in the first place. But chances are if you are a slacker, you don't care too much in the first place and don't care if you miss first hour and probably wouldn't give money away cuz you like sleeping. :) Also on a more serious level though it's good to prepare for the future when it is mandatory that you wake up for your job. Because you will lose money twice: once for not showing up to work on time (which may lead to one getting fired) and you'll be donating to a "HATED" charity.
But honestly it's funny because it is so ridiculous.....

  4. Im sure I would never ever wake up late with this....but i might invent some way to quickly pop out the battery to give it a permanent snooze for free ;)

  5. this is interesting! it makes me laugh a little too. but i know i would be in trouble if this applied to me..the snooze button is soo tempting early in the morning. but I would never want to send money to the American Coal Industry :( so I suppose, it would help me fight the urge.

  6. Well, i aint guna lie- I'm definetly a snoozer. I guess this is plenty incentive to change huh?- or not.... But its kind of weird, i know you lose money when you're late, but automatically sendin money to weird charities? But hey, i guess that's what it may have to come down to to get people to stop being slackers....I aint mad at that lol

  8. I think the idea for this is wonderful! If losing money for over sleeping isn't a big enough incentive to get out of bed, i don't know what is! However for me personally the snooze button is way too appealing, id be broke within a week. I think id much rather just buy the alarm click that rolls away when it goes off in the morning... so you have to run around to find it. That way i get out of bed ANDD keep all the money in my bank account :) I guess if you needed to change really baldy... the money clock would be a good way to get the job done quickly :)
