It seems very logical for a four day work week to be established in today's slow economy. It would reduce energy costs, reduce commuting costs such as gas, create efficiency at work, and create longer weekends. Would people in Boca Raton be willing to stay at the office two extra hours a day or get to work earlier in order to have Friday off? I am sure most people would love to have Friday off, but I am not sure if many people would be willing to work longer hours in one day. Plus, what would school and sports schedules' be like? Would students have to wake up earlier and have longer days too? Would there be even more homework on weekends? I think more questions need to be answered about the four day work week before the four day work week is tested in Boca Raton.

  2. If a four day work week was implemented both businesses and employees would be benefit. The cost of commuting to and from work would be reduced. People would be able to save money on gasoline. I think that most adults wouldn't have a problem with working a longer day because they would have a longer weekend. The energy costs would be reduced which would save businesses money. This could affect some employees who have younger children but having Friday off would allow them to make up for lost time. People would be able to go to work every week more refreshed because they had more time to rest. There may be a need to rearrange schedules but i don't think that it would be too much of a problem for most people. All in all, if it is decided to start a four day work week then i think that both businesses and employees would be very happy and benefit from the decision.

  3. I think that a four day work week is definitely a good option. Businesses would use less electricity and employees would not have to use the gas that it usually takes them to get to work. Even though it may seem inconsequential, this adds up when you consider all of the people in the world. Some work places, such as hospitals, fire departments, gas stations, and grocery stores, obviously cannot afford to be closed, but at least the less necessary businesses could shorten their work weeks. Also, this 4 day week could work out well for the school system. I'm sure few students and teachers would protest.

  4. In my opinion a four day week is a great idea, especially today with the environmental problems and slow economy. Benefitting both workers and the environment, this seems to be the way to make a breakthrough, speeding up the economy again and stopping global warming. Most people love their weekends which is the main reason this plan can succeed. A major problem is that many people go shopping and travel on weekends, so would they not be able to do this on certain days of the week? or is this plan only to be implemented on only offices and schools. Or will businesses close earlier, as they currently do on Sundays? How will this work in big cities like New York City, Los Angeles, Miami? I think this plan needs to be thought out more in order for it to be effective, but it is definitely a start!
