The recent loss in teaching jobs around america is a bad sign that the recession is worst than ever. This loss in teaching jobs could be just the beginning with other "recession proof" jobs following, such as nursing. This also is an indicator that the governement is valuing education less and spending its money elsewhere. This causes a problem because the only way to get out of the current recession is to educate the next generation of america.

  2. The teaching profession has been declining but not as severely as other jobs. I also think that teachers are locked securely in their jobs because they are just now being affected by the economic downturn. Teachers will always be needed for open positions because people need an education and who better to do the job than teachers? the Media? Celebrities? I don't think so. The economic fall of America is, in the end, going to affect every job, even the most secure ones, if it continues.

  3. Earlier this school year, Obama gave a speech to students about how important school is. Due to the recession, the loss in teaching jobs is discouraging students to stay in school. If teachers can't even keep their jobs, who can? Isn't education supposed to be one of the most important things in America? Rather than spending the money on nation-wide health care, the money should be spent on education. If more of the nation's money was spent on education, more Americans would be able to be educated (because college tuition prices could be cut by scholarships, etc.) Because teachers are the ones who help us success and get a job, they should be the last people to lose their jobs. If the job loss for teachers continues to increase, America will become less intelligent and not as wealthy.
